At the 96th Oscar Awards, the film ‘Oppenheimer’ emerged as the night’s big winner, clinching seven awards including Best Picture, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, and Best Director for Christopher Nolan. Murphy, in his acceptance speech, expressed pride as the first Irish-born actor to win the Best Actor award. He dedicated his win to peace, acknowledging the complexities of the atomic bomb, a central theme in the film. The Best Supporting Actor award went to Robert Downey Jr., marking his first Oscar win, while ‘Oppenheimer’ also secured accolades for Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, and Best Film Editing.
In contrast, despite its global fame and commercial success, the film ‘Barbie’ only managed to secure one award at the ceremony. Over the years, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has presented more than 3,000 Oscars since its inception in 1929.
