The incident took place on March 17 when a 30-year-old software engineer in Bengaluru reported being sexually harassed by a delivery agent inside her home. According to reports, she ordered food through a popular app from a nearby restaurant.
Upon the delivery at 6:45 pm, the engineer offered the delivery agent water, which he accepted. After he left, he returned a short while later, requesting to use the restroom urgently. She directed him and asked him to leave afterward.
However, he then requested water again and followed her into the kitchen. Alarmed, she confronted him, and when he grabbed her hand, she reacted by hitting him with a frying pan. He fled, and she pursued him to the lift, but he escaped through the stairs.
The woman reported the incident to the authorities, who suggested filing a First Information Report (FIR) with the HAL Police. She also raised the matter with the food delivery app, expressing dissatisfaction with their response time and cooperation.
Following the incident, the building residents implemented measures to restrict delivery agents’ entry, opting to collect deliveries from the gates instead. CCTV footage captured the alleged perpetrator, aiding the ongoing police investigation.
