Speaking about her experience on the casting couch, actress Ankita Lokhande said, “I don’t think your producer needs talent.”
In an interview with Hauterfly, Ankita, who has expertise in both television and movies, talked about her experience on the casting couch.
Ankita claimed she was contacted about a South Korean movie and informed that in order to acquire the project, she would need to “sleep with” the producer. “Maine South film ka audition diya tha,” Ankita remembers.
“I tried out for a movie in the south. To get the sign amount, I received a call. I informed my mother that I would go get the sign amount because I was thrilled. But I couldn’t help but wonder, ‘How did this happen so easily?’”
Ankita went on, “I was only 19 years old at the time. When I arrived, my coordinator was told to sit outside and I was called alone into the room. They said to me, ‘You have to make a compromise.’ At the time, I was just 19 years old. It was my goal to become a heroine.” Knowing the world well, Ankita attempted to sidestep the issue by posing the straightforward query, “What kind of compromise?” The response was thus succinct: “You must have to sleep with the producer”
