Screenwriter Bee Gul delved into the prevalent issue of sexual exploitation within the Pakistani entertainment industry. 

She shared insights on how she navigated and succeeded in spite of the toxic environment. According to Bee, the industry culture often expects individuals to exchange sexual favors for career advancement, a reality many women confront.

She highlighted how influential figures perpetuate this notion, particularly targeting vulnerable newcomers.

Despite tempting offers of luxurious incentives, Bee stood firm in her principles, rejecting compromises that didn’t align with her values.

While acknowledging that her stance may have impacted her financial success compared to peers, her acclaimed short film “Jamun Ka Darakht” has earned her global recognition, solidifying her reputation as a skilled writer and director.

“I find solace in my integrity, knowing I remained true to myself,” she affirmed, urging women to uphold their values and boundaries despite external pressures, stating, “Though challenging, it’s a pursuit worth undertaking.” 

Bee attributed the industry’s exploitation of women to a systemic issue fueled by objectification and entitlement, asserting, “It’s not solely the powerful men at fault; it’s the entire enabling structure.” She advocated for dismantling this system and erecting one that honors women’s autonomy. 

Bee Gul’s scripts persist in uncovering the industry’s darker aspects, confronting misogyny and patriarchy with unwavering candor. 

Reflecting on her journey, she simply stated, “Survival is paramount.” Revered for her intellect and graceful demeanor, she’s lauded as “wise, intelligent, poised, and eloquent,” with admirers praising her ability to shed light on industry realities with modesty and clarity.
