Alia Bhatt Joins Block-Out 2024 List Following Met Gala Appearance

Alia Bhatt, a prominent Bollywood actress, has recently found herself targeted by the block-out campaign, following her appearance at the Met Gala 2024.

Indian media reports indicate that her name has been added to the blockout 2024 list due to her attendance at the event.

Despite garnering attention for her second appearance at the Met Gala, Bhatt’s inclusion on the list stems from her perceived silence on the tragic events affecting innocent Palestinians and her alleged support of Israeli aggression.

Bhatt is not alone in facing this backlash, as fellow Indian celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, and Virat Kohli have also found their names added to the Block Out 2024 list.

What is a blockout campaign?

It’s important to highlight that notable figures, including prominent personalities from the entertainment industry, who remain silent in the face of ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, are facing a boycott with people unfollowing them.

The block-out campaign, initiated post the Met Gala on May 6, seeks to block celebrities from revenue-generating social media platforms like Instagram, X, and TikTok. Reports suggest that consumers expressed strong disapproval upon witnessing famous personalities, including Hollywood actors, attending glamorous events while staying silent on the atrocities and suffering of women and children in Palestine.

The objective of the campaign is to diminish celebrities’ earnings through advertising on social media platforms. Consumers believe that the decline in likes and views on celebrity posts will impact their income.

It’s worth noting that as a result of this campaign, numerous popular figures from the Western world, including Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Kylie Jenner, Zendaya, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Zac Efron, Nick Jonas, and others, have experienced a significant loss of followers in a short period.
