Beijing: The domestic teen comedy “Be My Friend” maintained its position at the top of the box office chart in mainland China on Monday, according to official data,

The film brought in 20.90 million yuan (approximately 2.94 million US dollars) in box office revenue on that day, as reported by the China Movie Data Information Network.

“Be My Friend” narrates the tale of a teenage girl raised by a single mother who journeys back in time to unravel her mother’s past.

Following closely behind was the domestic crime comedy “Walk the Line,” which earned 19.52 million yuan in box office sales on the same day.

Sony Pictures’ animated comedy “The Garfield Movie” secured the third spot, grossing 17.03 million yuan in daily earnings.

Overall, the total box office revenue on the Chinese mainland amounted to 116.72 million yuan on Monday.
