Why Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Cherish 4th of July?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated a special anniversary on the Fourth of July eight years ago, marking their second date together.
In his memoir “Spare,” the Duke of Sussex reflects on the significance of that day in 2016, recalling their initial meeting. Following a memorable first date, they arranged to meet again the very next day, coincidentally on America’s Independence Day.
In a touching gesture to commemorate the occasion, Harry prepared something special for Meghan. “She walked in wearing a lovely blue sundress with white stripes, looking radiant,” Harry recalled in his memoir. He surprised her with a pink box containing a delightful treat.
“Cupcakes. Red, white, and blue cupcakes, specifically to celebrate Independence Day,” he wrote. “I joked about the differing perspectives Brits and Americans have on the holiday, but it was all in good spirits.”
Despite living in different countries at the time—Harry in the UK and Meghan filming “Suits” in Canada—the couple’s relationship flourished. Their love story developed swiftly, culminating in their wedding in 2018.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were prominent members of the royal family until 2020, when they chose to step back from their official roles and move to the United States.
