Vicky Kaushal’s latest film “Bad Newz,” directed by Anand Tiwari and co-starring Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk, is approaching the ₹30 crore mark at the Indian box office. According to Sacnilk, the romantic comedy has maintained a strong hold on its earnings throughout its opening weekend.

On Sunday, the film added ₹11.15 crore to its collection, bringing its total weekend earnings to ₹29.7 crore. This marked a slight increase from Saturday’s collection of ₹10.25 crore and a notable rise from its opening day earnings of ₹8.3 crore.

The opening day collection set a new record for Vicky Kaushal, surpassing even his blockbuster film “Uri: The Surgical Strike” directed by Aditya Dhar in 2019. The film’s performance on Monday remains to be seen. Despite receiving mixed reviews, “Bad Newz” has garnered positive word-of-mouth from audiences.

Vicky Kaushal expressed his gratitude to fans by making a surprise visit to a late-night screening of “Bad Newz” in Mumbai on Saturday. He interacted with the audience, took selfies, and even sang his popular track “Tauba Tauba” with them.

Produced by Amritpal Singh Bindra, Apoorva Mehta, and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, “Bad Newz” is a rare comedy inspired by true events, focusing on heteropaternal superfecundation—a reproductive phenomenon where twins have different biological fathers.

The film is considered a spiritual sequel to Raj Mehta’s 2019 hit romantic comedy “Good Newz,” which starred Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani.
