Resham, a prominent actress in Pakistani films and dramas, began her career in television at a young age and quickly became a dominant figure in the industry with her charisma. Today, she is highly selective in her roles, much to the delight of her fans who eagerly await her appearances on screen. Her most recent films include “The Legend of Maula Jatt” and “Gunjal.”
During a guest appearance on “Mazaq Raat,” Resham shared an anecdote about her early career. She recounted how she used to accompany her brother to auditions and initially played supporting roles until she landed her first leading role on PTV. At the audition, she found herself among well-known figures in the industry, including Maria Wasti.
Resham recalled feeling insecure about her Urdu skills after hearing Maria Wasti effortlessly conversing in English with everyone present. Despite her doubts, Resham ultimately secured the role because the producers felt Maria’s proficiency in English was excessive, whereas Resham’s Urdu could be polished.
This marked her debut under the name Resham, chosen after her sister advised against using her original name Saima due to the popularity of another star named Saima Khan.
