Janhvi Kapoor Discusses ‘Mr. India’ Sequel
Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor recently discussed the possibility of being cast in the sequel to her late mother Sridevi’s iconic film, Mr India. While promoting her upcoming film Ulajh, Kapoor was asked about her interest in being part of the sequel, which is said to be in development.
Kapoor expressed her thoughts, saying, “Mr India is one of the greatest films in Indian cinema. I’m not sure if it should be remade or altered.”
She added, “I don’t know the specifics of the plans for the sequel. Ultimately, the director and creators will make the best decision. You can’t impose changes on something as pure as that.”

Reflecting on her father Boney Kapoor, who produced the original film 37 years ago, Janhvi noted, “I’ve never pressured him to cast me in his films.
I see myself as his daughter first and an actress second. I want him to make decisions that are best for his business and his film, and I respect that.”
The original Mr India, starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and Amrish Puri, was a significant commercial success upon its release in 1987, grossing INR 100 million against a budget of INR 38 million. Producer Boney Kapoor confirmed last year that a sequel to the beloved classic is in the works.
