Knox Update: Enhanced Security Features Unveiled
Samsung announced new advancements in its Knox security management software, aimed at bolstering data protection across its devices. The latest updates include a feature for secure file sharing and end-to-end encryption for system backups.
Private Sharing in Samsung Knox
Samsung has introduced “Private Sharing” within Quick Share, a new privacy-focused tool designed for secure file transfers. This feature ensures that files such as photos, videos, and documents are accessible only to the designated recipient.
Users can further strengthen security by setting expiration timers, specifying particular contacts for access, and imposing additional restrictions like blocking screenshots and enabling read-only mode. Shared files can be revoked at any time, and users can send up to 20 files at once with a maximum combined size of 200MB.
To use Private Sharing, users must select the file they want to share, choose Quick Share, and then activate Private Sharing by tapping the three-dot menu at the top-right corner of the screen.
Enhanced Data Protection
Samsung has also introduced the “Enhanced Data Protection” feature for the Galaxy S24 and newer models. This feature provides end-to-end encryption for data synced or backed up to Samsung Cloud, ensuring the data remains secure even if account credentials are compromised or servers are breached.
Users will need to note a recovery code when enabling this feature for the first time, which will be essential if the device is lost. According to Samsung, the company itself cannot access this encrypted data.
