Upcoming Sequel Series for ‘John Wick’
A sequel series to the “John Wick” films is in development at Lionsgate Television, with Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski serving as executive producers. Titled “John Wick: Under the High Table,” the series is set to pick up immediately after the events of “Chapter 4,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The official logline describes the series as follows: “John Wick has left the High Table’s world in a precarious state. New characters will emerge, seeking to establish their own influence, while some familiar faces remain loyal to the old order. The series will blend both new and existing elements, propelling the Wick universe into a new era.”
Keanu Reeves, who starred in the titular role across the four “John Wick” films, will executive produce the upcoming series alongside Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee. Chad Stahelski, who directed the films, will also executive produce and direct the pilot episode. Robert Levine will serve as the showrunner, writing and executive producing the series.
The development of “John Wick: Under the High Table” follows Stahelski’s January deal with Lionsgate to broaden the franchise across various media. This series will be the second set in the “John Wick” universe, following the miniseries “The Continental: From the World of John Wick,” which serves as a prequel to the films.
The original “John Wick” film, starring Keanu Reeves, debuted in 2014, with the fourth installment released in 2023. Work has already begun on the fifth film. The fourth movie achieved a new milestone by earning the highest aggregated review score in the franchise on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 93% positive rating from critics, surpassing the previous entries, which scored 86%, 89%, and 89%, respectively.
