Set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the prequel series House of The Dragon is planned to conclude with its fourth season. According to international reports, HBO’s popular series will start production on Season 3 next year, and the final Season 4 has already been approved, as confirmed by the creators on Monday.

During a press conference about the Season 2 finale, which aired over the weekend, co-creator and showrunner Ryan Condal revealed that the next season of George R. R. Martin’s prequel series, consisting of eight episodes, is currently being scripted. After completing the necessary pre-production work later this year, shooting for Season 3 is expected to commence in early 2025.House of the Dragon Finale Reveal“I haven’t discussed it with HBO yet,” Condal hinted, “but I expect the show’s dramatic storytelling will continue at the same pace from Season 2 onwards.”

This highly anticipated update has elicited mixed reactions from dedicated fans of Game of Thrones and House of The Dragon. While some are excited and eager for the epic conclusion, others are reluctant to part with the Targaryens so soon.

Meanwhile, Martin had previously confirmed, “It will take four full seasons of 10 episodes each to fully capture the Dance of the Dragons from beginning to end.”
