Spanish-American singer Victoria Canal has dismissed rumors about a romance with Hollywood star Tom Cruise. The 25-year-old, who made her debut at the Glastonbury Festival this year with a performance alongside Coldplay, took to social media to refute the speculation.
Sharing a selfie that reflected her disbelief, along with some news headlines—including one that read, “Is Tom Cruise on a new mission impossible?” Canal commented, “Guys, this is literally insane. Apparently, the tabloids think I’m dating Tom Cruise.”
“I never imagined I’d have to address this publicly,” she clarified. “Let’s put an end to this right now—sorry to disappoint, but I am not dating Tom Cruise, though he is a wonderful person and artist.” She continued, “Seriously, Tom has been nothing but respectful and supportive, much like Chris Martin, my dad, my music teachers, and other wise individuals who have enriched my life. I’m friends with a diverse range of people, and you learn a lot when you stay open to the lessons life offers.”
The rumors began circulating last month when the Top Gun: Maverick star gave Canal and her brother a helicopter ride to the Twisters premiere in London. In her latest post, Canal wrapped up by thanking Cruise for one unexpected benefit of the dating speculation: for the first time, she was referred to as “Spanish-American singer Victoria Canal” rather than “one-armed pianist.”
