Google has announced a new AI-powered feature for its video chat service, Google Meet, called “Take notes for me.” This feature will automatically generate notes during meetings on Google Meet.

Administrators can now manage this feature through a new setting in the Admin panel, accessible by navigating to Apps > Google Workspace > Google Meet > Gemini Settings. Before rolling it out to all users, admins have the option to test it within specific organizational units (OUs) or groups.

The “Take notes for me” feature will be available only to users with Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or the AI Meetings and Messaging add-on licenses.

Meeting notes will adhere to the organization’s Meet retention policy and will be saved in the meeting organizer’s Drive folder. After the meeting, both the organizer and the user who enabled the feature will receive an email with the meeting notes.

The generated meeting recap will not be available immediately. Instead, a temporary notice will indicate that “Meet is taking notes and will produce a summary with action items and other meeting details,” according to Google
