Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has disclosed the origins of his iconic “arms out” pose, which was created with the help of a renowned choreographer. Throughout his illustrious career, the “Dunki” actor has delivered numerous memorable performances, yet his signature “arms out” pose has become a constant feature in nearly all his films.
Recently, Shah Rukh Khan credited the legendary Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan for this distinctive pose. During the 77th Locarno Film Festival, he shared that Saroj Khan suggested he stretch out his arms when he struggled with a particular dance move.
According to Khan, Bollywood actors in the 90s were expected to master the ‘dip’ move during dance performances. Khan struggled with this step and felt quite embarrassed on set. “I felt very ashamed of myself and spent the entire night practicing,” he recalled. The next day, he returned to the shoot and told choreographer Saroj Khan he was prepared to attempt the ‘dip’ again.
However, Saroj Khan suggested he simply stand and extend his arms instead of performing the ‘dip’. The “Jawan” actor later revisited the ‘arms out’ pose in another film when he faced difficulty with a dance step.
“Then I made it scientific,” Shah Rukh Khan said, explaining how he began instructing people to position their right leg at a specific angle and strike a particular pose.“I’m just kidding. It’s really nothing special, just arms out,” the Bollywood star humorously added.
In other news, the ‘Dunki’ actor has confirmed his role in director Sujoy Ghosh’s action film King, which will also reportedly feature his daughter, Suhana Khan, in her big-screen debut.
“The next film I’m working on is King. I need to start preparing, lose some weight, and stretch a bit so I don’t injure myself during the action scenes,” he noted. Last month, it was reported that Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan had joined the cast of King, following an announcement by his father, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan.
