Harington Discusses Game Of Thrones’ Rushed Ending

Kit Harington, known for his role as Jon Snow in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, has admitted that the show’s ending felt rushed after eight seasons. In a recent interview with a US media outlet, Harington explained that the cast was too exhausted to continue, which contributed to the rushed finale.

Game of Thrones concluded with a six-episode final season, down from the usual ten episodes, and faced criticism from fans who felt the ending was hastily done. Harington acknowledged this criticism, stating that the exhaustion of the cast made it challenging to extend the series.

“If there was any fault with the end of Thrones, it’s that we were all so f–king tired, we couldn’t have gone on longer,” Harington said. “I understand why some people thought it was rushed, and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative. I look at pictures from that final season and see how exhausted I looked. I didn’t have another season in me.”

The actor also admitted that mistakes were made in the Game of Thrones finale. “I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t quite work,” he noted. Kit Harington’s character, Jon Snow, survived to the end of the series, which was known for its shocking and sudden deaths of beloved characters. In the season finale, Jon Snow was seen riding into the Haunted Forest with his direwolf Ghost and the Wildling.

It was previously reported that Hollywood star Kit Harington was set to return in a sequel series focused on Jon Snow. However, he later confirmed that the project was shelved earlier this year. Harington explained, “HBO approached me with the idea, and my initial reaction was no.”

He continued, “Then I considered that there might be an interesting and significant story about a soldier after the war. I felt there was still something to say and a story to tell, albeit in a limited way.”

Despite this, Harington revealed that both he and the team involved eventually lost interest in the spinoff. He expressed concern that it might “end up being something that’s not good. And that’s the last thing we all want.”
