“Stree 2,” featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, received glowing reviews from fans following its release on India’s Independence Day.

The film set a new record for opening day box office collections, surpassing the prequel and outshining its Independence Day rivals, “Vedaa” and “Khel Khel Mein,” with impressive pre-booking numbers.

According to Indian movie trade sources, ‘Stree 2’ sold over 2.21 lakh tickets for its opening day, generating a total revenue of INR 6.87 crore. Many fans took to social media to praise the movie’s storyline and timing, as well as to commend Kumar’s memorable cameo.

The sequel has been hailed as a complete ‘paisa vasool’ experience, with comparisons drawn between Akshay Kumar’s role and Marvel’s supervillain Thanos.

Directed by Amar Kaushik, ‘Stree 2’ is the fifth installment in Maddock Films’ Supernatural Universe and a sequel to the 2018 hit. The film sees Shraddha Kapoor return to her titular role, joined by Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee.
