Bollywood’s latest horror comedy, “Stree 2,” featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has quickly become a blockbuster since its release on India’s Independence Day. The film has already earned over INR 1.63 billion in India and an additional INR 250 million internationally within just three days of its debut. It is expected to exceed the INR 2 billion global milestone by Sunday.
In “Stree 2,” Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao return to their roles from the 2018 original. Recent reports have revealed the pay discrepancies between the two stars for this sequel. Rajkummar Rao reportedly earned INR 60 million, while Shraddha Kapoor’s fee was INR 50 million.
Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi reportedly earned INR 30 million for his role in “Stree 2,” while Aparshakti Khurana received around INR 7 million and Abhishek Banerjee was paid INR 5.5 million. Additionally, some reports indicate that Varun Dhawan charged INR 20 million for his cameo as Bhediya.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, “Stree” revolves around a menacing villain named Sarkata Bhoot who haunts the residents of Chanderi. The film blends horror and comedy as the townspeople seek the help of “Stree” to defeat the supernatural threat.
In addition to Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar also made a surprise cameo in the film.In a recent interview, Shraddha Kapoor shared her thoughts on the movie and her choice of roles. “I want to be involved in films that offer something new and memorable. Movies like ‘Stree’ are special because they leave a lasting impact. My goal is to be part of projects that truly resonate with audiences,” she said.
