Bollywood film producer Ratan Jain recently shared exciting news about potential sequels to Shah Rukh Khan’s beloved 90s hits, ‘Baadshah’ and ‘Baazigar’.
In an interview with an Indian media outlet, Ratan Jain of the Venus production banner, which was behind both ‘Baazigar’ and ‘Baadshah,’ directed by Abbas-Mustan, revealed that sequels are definitely on the agenda.
“I regularly discuss with Shah Rukh about our next steps. The first sequel I’m eager to work on is Baazigar 2, followed by Baadshah 2,” he said, emphasizing that these sequels will only be made with Shah Rukh Khan.
When asked if they have a script for ‘Baazigar 2,’ Jain responded, “Not yet, but we’re continuously brainstorming.”
He added, “Once we find the right subject and director, we’ll proceed with the sequel. Shah Rukh is on board with the idea, but as I mentioned, we need to ensure it’s the perfect concept.” Jain also noted, “In today’s times, we must either create something exceptional or not do it at all.”
It’s worth noting that ‘Baazigar,’ an unofficial remake of the American thriller ‘A Kiss Before Dying,’ was a pivotal film in Shah Rukh Khan’s career. Featuring Khan as an anti-hero, the romantic thriller also starred Shilpa Shetty in her debut and Kajol. The film was a major hit, becoming the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year.
