Sanam Teri Kasam Sequel Announced
The creators of the Bollywood film Sanam Teri Kasam, featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, are reportedly working on a sequel. The new film, tentatively titled Jaanam Teri Kasam, will once again be directed by the original team, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. However, Rane and Hocane will not reprise their roles.
According to Hindustan Times, the sequel is still in its early stages of development, with the casting process just beginning. The new film will feature a fresh cast, as the creators have decided not to bring back the original stars. Currently, auditions are being held for the main leads, and the selection for supporting roles will follow.
The sequel is expected to be a musical, and the filmmakers are seeking a female lead with singing talent and the appearance and charisma of a singer.
In a previous interview, Harshvardhan Rane addressed fans’ calls for a sequel, noting, “The audience keeps asking about a sequel to Sanam Teri Kasam. I’ve explained that the lack of ticket sales for the original film was why a sequel wasn’t made. I even mentioned this in flyers during the promotion of Dange. It’s important for audiences to support our films in theaters if we are to be encouraged to make more.”
Released in 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam marked Mawra Hocane’s Bollywood debut. Despite its box office struggles, Hocane received positive reviews for her performance and dance.
