South Korea Appoints Virtual News Anchors for Cutting-Edge Broadcasting

In South Korea’s Jeju Island, the local government has decided to use a virtual news anchor for a weekly YouTube show. This trend of using virtual presenters is becoming more common worldwide because they’re cheaper than real people.

The virtual news anchor, named Jana, looks young but is actually just a computer-made character. Even though she seems experienced, she’s controlled by a company, not a real person.

Also, the news she reads is written by AI programs like ChatGPT, showing how much technology is used in making news shows nowadays.

Surprisingly, using Jana costs only about $450 a month, which is much less than paying a human presenter. This shows how much money can be saved by using AI-powered virtual anchors instead of real people.
