Cannes: The 77th Cannes Film Festival concludes on Saturday after an edition marked by political themes, blood, and feminism.

Emotions were high on Friday, the final day of screenings, as Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof premiered his film “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” just days after escaping a prison sentence in his home country.

This film was one of the last of 22 entries vying for the Palme d’Or, the top prize at the world’s premier film festival.

Attention now shifts to the jury, led by “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig, who will announce their decisions at the closing ceremony on Saturday night.

Although the festival had a slow start with mixed reviews for early entries, the competition intensified in the final days.
