Producer Accuses Sunny Deol of Cheating, Forgery in Film Deal
Actor Sunny Deol is facing serious allegations of cheating and forgery brought against him by producer Sourav Gupta.
According to Gupta, he provided Rs 1 crore to Sunny as a signing amount for a film project. However, instead of starting work on the film as agreed, Sunny chose to work on the film “Poster Boys” instead.
Gupta, who owns Sundwan Entertainment Pvt Ltd, alleges that Sunny Deol has cheated him out of a substantial amount of money.
He claims that in 2016, he approached Deol for a film project and paid him in advance. However, despite receiving the payment, Sunny kept delaying the project and never started working on it.
“We paid Rs 1 crore to him as a signing amount. Instead of starting our film, he chose to work on Poster Boys (2017). I paid him more than Rs 2.55 crore and even changed the script and director on his persistence.
We even booked studios to begin shooting, but all in vain. We have been cheated by him and his team,” Gupta said.
Gupta further alleges that last year, Deol forged an agreement to siphon more money. “We had agreed on Rs 4 crore as the signing amount, but when we saw the agreement, it stated Rs 8 crore. He had also added Rs 2 crore as profit-sharing. When I raised this issue, his team did not respond to us.
We even sent a notice, but his team claimed he was out of the country,” he added.
The producer expressed his hope for justice, stating, “I am an outsider who entered the industry to make films and create job opportunities. However, I was deceived, and I don’t know where this will end. I have lost my hard-earned money to a powerful individual.
There is no hope of collaborating with him; I just want justice. I want to recover my money,” Sourav told us.
Breaking down during the conversation, he expressed his frustration that Sunny Deol, being an acclaimed actor and a Member of Parliament, seemed to have immunity. “When I attempted to file a complaint, nobody was willing to believe it. No one is ready to support us,” he said.
Efforts to reach out to Sunny Deol’s team for comment were unsuccessful.
