Hollywood star Saoirse Ronan, acclaimed for her roles in films like Little Women and Lady Bird, has married in a secret ceremony.
According to the Irish Independent, the four-time Oscar-nominated actress exchanged vows with her long-time partner, actor Jack Lowden, in a private ceremony held in Edinburgh, Scotland. Only the couple’s closest friends attended, and they were sworn to secrecy.
The Scottish civil marriage register has confirmed that Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden are officially married.
Although the couple has been private about their relationship, rumors about their engagement surfaced last year when Ronan posted a photo of her hand with a diamond ring. The two began dating in 2018 after meeting on the set of Mary Queen of Scots, where Ronan played Mary Stuart and Lowden portrayed Lord Darnley.
Ronan, 30, gained her Hollywood breakthrough with a role as Keira Knightley’s younger sister in the 2007 film Atonement, earning an Oscar nomination at just 13. She received subsequent nominations for Brooklyn (2015), Lady Bird (2017), and Little Women (2019).
Ronan and Lowden purchased a home together in West Cork in 2020 and currently reside in north London.
Lowden’s production company, Arcade Pictures, which he co-founded with Ronan, is behind their upcoming film The Outrun. The movie, set to release in September, features Ronan as a recovering alcoholic returning to the Orkney Islands.
