Indian film actor and reality TV star Poonam Pandey, who staged a fake death to raise awareness about cervical cancer, now describes the stunt as a ‘disaster’ for herself.

During a recent media appearance, Poonam Pandey discussed the controversy surrounding her fake death stunt earlier this year. She admitted that the stunt turned out to be disastrous for her, as many people misunderstood its intent.

“I did it for a cause,” she explained to the reporter. “People still don’t get it, and they don’t realize that women in rural areas, who are not aware of cervical cancer in today’s world, learned about it through this incident. So, in a way, my goal was achieved.” She added, “But it was a terrible experience for me. It was a disaster. I was hoping someone would understand, but I don’t know how I managed to get through that phase.”Poonam Pandey’s Fake Death ControversyIt’s important to note that Poonam Pandey’s fake death was announced by her manager through a social media post in February. The post on her official Instagram account read, “Deeply saddened to inform that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer,” which caused a significant stir in the industry.

However, the following day, Pandey released a video statement confirming that she was indeed alive and that the stunt was intended to raise awareness about cervical cancer. “I am alive. I did not die from cervical cancer. Sadly, I cannot say the same for the many women who have lost their lives to this disease.

It’s not because they couldn’t do anything, but because they didn’t know what to do. I want to emphasize that cervical cancer is preventable. All you need to do is get regular tests and receive the HPV vaccine,” she explained.
