Hollywood star Channing Tatum has voiced his desire for a standalone “Gambit” film following his recent cameo in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

In an interview with a US media outlet, Tatum was asked about the chance of reprising his role if Marvel ever decided to make a ‘Gambit’ movie. He expressed optimism and enthusiasm, saying, “I sure hope so. From your mouth to God’s ears. Write it into existence, my friend. Please.”

Tatum made a surprise appearance as the X-Men mutant in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ a film that came after his long-standing effort with his producing partner Reid Carolin to develop a standalone ‘Gambit’ film for 20th Century Fox. The project was put on hold following Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019.

After his cameo, Tatum took to Instagram to thank Ryan Reynolds for reviving his role as Gambit. “I thought I had lost Gambit forever,” he wrote, praising Reynolds for his support. “I will owe him probably forever. Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me. I love ya buddy,” he added.

Tatum’s latest film is ‘Blink Twice,’ where he plays a billionaire tech mogul who invites friends and acquaintances to his private island, only for the trip to take a dark turn involving excessive drinking and drug use.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, marked the first R-rated Marvel film under Disney and achieved record-breaking success.

It had the biggest R-rated opening weekend ever, earning $205 million, making it the eighth-best debut of all time and the top film of 2024, surpassing Disney’s Pixar sequel “Inside Out 2,” which debuted with $155 million.
