Tabu Joins HBO’s ‘Dune: Prophecy’ Cast
Bollywood actress Tabu is set to display her acting prowess in HBO’s “Dune: Prophecy,” where she will portray Sister Francesca.
This prequel series, based on the sci-fi novel “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, is set 10,000 years before the events of “Dune.” It follows sisters Valya and Tula Harkonnen as they confront threats to humanity’s future and establish the renowned Bene Gesserit order.
In an interview with an Indian media outlet, Tabu shared her enthusiasm for the role, revealing that she accepted the part without hesitation. The first official image showcases Tabu in black attire with her hair pulled back in a ponytail, exuding an intense presence.
“It has been an extraordinary experience playing Sister Francesca in ‘Dune: Prophecy’ from the moment I was approached for it.
I agreed without batting an eyelid,” Tabu said. She continued, “It’s an actor’s delight to be entrusted with a character that is so interesting, intriguing, intelligent, and emotionally powerful. Diving into her complexity has been an immersive process. I’m thrilled to bring her story to audiences both in India and globally.”
The creators of “Dune: Prophecy” have described Tabu’s character as “strong, intelligent, and alluring, with a lasting impact. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace disrupts the balance of power in the capital.”
The series’ official logline reads: “Set within the vast universe of ‘Dune,’ created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ rise, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ follows the Harkonnen sisters as they fight against forces threatening humanity’s future and lay the groundwork for the Bene Gesserit.”
