Halsey has expressed her deep sorrow over the untimely death of Liam Payne in a heartfelt tribute shared on Tumblr.
The 30-year-old pop star reflected on her admiration for the late One Direction member following his passing in Argentina on October 16.
In her post, Halsey wrote, “I loved One Direction with an all-consuming force when I was younger. It hurts deeply to mourn someone you were a massive fan of as a teenager and became a peer of as an adult.”
She acknowledged the complexities of grief, stating, “I know people change, and grief is uncertain or complicated when it’s attached to a fond memory or the feelings a person gave you, rather than the person themselves. I can see many of you on here are struggling with that right now, and I understand.”
Halsey also reminisced about purchasing a house in Calabasas, California, which was previously owned by Payne.
She recalled the rumors that the house was haunted, noting, “He assured me it was not, and I believed him. Because I know the ghosts that haunt us aren’t tethered to buildings. They live in parts of us that are harder to reach and they go wherever we do.”
Concluding her tribute, Halsey expressed her disbelief at the loss, stating, “As a parent, a fellow artist, and a fan, I simply cannot fathom this untimely loss. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and the fans.” She ended her post with a broken heart emoji.
